It's 2020!!!

One thing we know for certain, and that is: This year's High Holiday experience will be unlike any other and one to remember for generations! Our mission at Chabad of Arcadia is to be here for you, and provide you with the most meaningful, authentic and uplifting High Holiday experience possible, in a way that YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE with. To achieve this, our staff (i.e. Rabbi & Simi) have put together a number of High Holiday options, which you may view below.

  • Pre-High Holiday Zoom program: High Holidays Within.
  • Traditional High Holiday Services: Our cantor-rabbi tandem will lead us in socially distanced, but spiritually uplifting full holiday services. There will be a tent set up with outdoor socially-distanced seats available (Limit 30 people total). Masks will be required.
Yom Kippur update: Keep in mind, California is blessed with weather that can reach into the high 90s - even on the High Holidays. Evening services for Yom Kippur will continue outdoors as planned. We are also offering an early Yizkor Service at 9:30 am. If you need to cool off for a moment, our staff can grant indoor access one person at a time. For Shacharit and Mussaf service plans, approx. 10am-2pm, please call to discuss your options.
  • As in the past, seat reservations are FREE. But, you must reserve a seat for each service you plan to attend in person and specify how many people are coming. Unfortunately, this year we cannot accommodate walk-ins.
  • Shofar in the Park: At multiples times during the second day of Rosh Hashana (Sun. Sep. 20) we will be providing a 10 minute outdoor Shofar Blowing, along with several holiday songs, and short words of inspiration.
  • Spiritual Seats: For those who have always reserved a seat for the Holidays but will be unable to attend in person; we are offering you the option to still be part of our service. By purchasing your Spiritual Seats, the Chazzan will include your names in the prayers, and you will be helping support Chabad, thereby giving you the sense of belonging and the powerful Divine merit of Holiday attendance. We can also deliver a set of Machzorim to your doorstep for you to use.
  • DIY Rosh Hashana package: We will be offering a taste of the Holidays with a give-away of delicious honey cake, apples and honey, plus a beautifully printed Holiday Guide of Prayers and Insights that you will be able to use for your own home-bound Holiday Service.
  • Pre-Holiday Classes & Inspiration: We will be offering classes and DIY training to inspire your own prayers at home as well as live-streaming the High Holiday Sermons before the holiday.

What Are the High Holidays?
The two-day holiday of Rosh Hashanah is the head of the Jewish year, the time when G‑d reinvests Himself in creation as we crown Him king of the universe through prayer, shofar blasts, and celebration. A week later, the High Holidays reach their crescendo with Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement). Like angels, we neither eat nor drink for 25 hours. Dressed in white, we pray in the synagogue—united as one people, children of One Father.
